Illuminate your world with Kelvin, where creativity meets craftsmanship.

Kelvin began from a close attention to form, how objects take shape, how they hold light, and how present they need to be within a space.

Rather than aiming for a statement, the work focuses on restraint. Forms are developed to feel balanced and unobtrusive, allowing light to integrate naturally into the environment. The relationship between shape and illumination is considered as one each defining the other.

While the pieces often undergo refined finishing processes, the underlying approach remains rooted in construction. Proportion, weight, and structure guide the design, giving each piece a sense of quiet stability.

Kelvin was founded by Dory Edelman, an industrial designer whose background is grounded in a family of makers working in metal. Growing up around workshops, mechanical systems, and fabrication processes created an early familiarity with how things are built less as objects, and more as assemblies of parts, forces, and constraints.

This foundation continues to shape the work. Rather than separating design from making, Kelvin approaches both as part of the same process where decisions are informed by material, structure, and use.

Later studies in industrial design at Bezalel provided a framework to refine this approach into a clear design language, balancing technical precision with restraint.

Today, Kelvin operates between craft and production. Each piece begins as a hands-on exploration of form, before being developed into a repeatable object. The challenge lies in maintaining clarity and proportion as the work moves from process to product.

The result is a collection of lighting objects that feel composed and enduring designed to sit quietly within a space, shaping the atmosphere without demanding attention.
